First known as Running Brushy and then Brueggerhoff, the city is currently known as Cedar Park. It is found on the northern border of Austin. The name originates from an actual park that was incorporated in 1973. Cedar Park is ranked as one of the Fastest-Growing Cities in the US. Limestone for the building became a major product of Cedar Park in the 1890s and remained important until about 1970. Cedar fence posts were also a major product. In the 1960s, the local ranch land began to be used for housing areas. Cedar Park was incorporated in 1973 with a council-manager system of local government.
