The US unincorporated community of Ecleto is located in Karnes County in the US state of Texas. The community’s population, according to the 2000 census, was estimated at 22. Ecleto area is believed to be a cradle of mankind with evidence of human habitation since time immemorial. A post office was opened in the area in 1852 and named Cleto. Karnes County was later established in 1854, and the community’ renamed Ecleto. In the 1850s, Ecleto served as a way station for stages from Victoria to San Antonio. In 1871, Ecleto’s post office was moved to Riddleville. Ecleto was, shortly after, abandoned.
