Haskell is a city in and the county seat of Haskell County. It is located at the intersection of US 277 and US 380. For some time, Haskell was known as Willow Pond Springs; it was a watering place for buffalo hunters, travelers, and the Indians. In 1885, a post office was established and the settlement was renamed Haskell, after Charles Ready Haskell, a Texas Revolution warrior. Soon after, the community prevailed in regional trade and agriculture. Annual events such as barbecues and dances were celebrated. The Mollie Bailey show and the Harley Sadler tent show often visited the town. In 1980, the town had ninety-eight businesses and 3,782 residents. As of 2010, its population was 3,322.
