Lubbock is a city located in Lubbock County in Texas. The city itself is of course the county seat. The city is the eleventh most populous city in Texas with a population of 258,862 citizens as of 2019. Comanche were the people living in the Comancheria before 1867. Lubbock County was established in 1876. The county was named after a former Texas Ranger, Thomas Saltus Lubbock. The small town known as Lubbock was established in 1890.
