The city of Rosenberg is located along the U.S Highway 59. The city was initially settled around 1823. The city was established after Richmond denied the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway a Right of Way. The city was named after a Swiss immigrant, Henry Rosenberg, who was the railway president between 1874 and 1877. A post office was founded in 1881. Later in 1894, the city established a Wells Fargo Shipping office. The City of Mud was incorporated into Rosenberg in 1902 with Robert H. McCormick as the first mayor. In 1902, the first telephone was set up in the city.
