Sebastian was born and bred in the Black Forest in Germany. He moved to London in 2003 and set up his advisory firm in the City. Later, the Sauerborns relocated to America and bought a ranch near Austin, Texas. The photo shows Sebastian on the front porch of the ranch in 2013, together with his best friend, the late David Jones.
Although today Sebastian does no longer own the Texas ranch, the local food movement in Texas is still very close to his heart, and especially the many Texas family farms and ranches. Sebastian has a keen interest in local, seasonal and sustainable food production in Texas. For him, the question of how to make such food available to all Texans is the most important challenge facing the local food movement today.
From this sprang the idea for TexasRealFood: A business directory and information resource designed around the local food movement in Texas. Built with the intention to make locally produced food more accessible for all.
