Ector County is located in the State of Texas. Odessa is the county seat of Ector County. The county was founded on the twenty-sixth of February in 1887 from Tom Green County and was officially organized four years later. Mathew Ector was the namesake of the town. He was a Confederate general in the American Civil War.
