Haskell county is located in the North Central Texas area and was named after Texas Revolutionary and war hero, Charles Ready Haskell. The county is well known for its agribusiness and oil-field operations. The main agricultural outputs of the county are wheat, cotton, and peanuts with over 15,000 acres listed as irrigated. Cattle for beef is also raised in the area, but not as much as the surrounding counties. That being said, Haskell is the center of commerce for the 12 surrounding counties so you’ll find Haskell to be a nice melting pot of local traditions and cultures.
