Hays County is part of the Austin MSA. The county was named after Captain Jack Hays, a member of the legendary Texas rangers. Texas State University is also located at Hays County. For visitors, the best time to visit would be around February where they hold an annual Jazz Festival. Hays county is also home of the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum which houses over 45 million pages of historical documents including those of the President’s and his cabinet. Hays county is also where some of the best BBQ in the state is located, but that point is being argued by every other county in the state.
