The county of Parmer, located in the south-western region of the Texas Panhandle, was established in 1876 and organized in 1907. It was named after Martin Parmer who was one of the signatories in the Texas Declaration of Independence. This county has been economically dependent on its farming and ranching industries; neither oil nor gas production was reported in this area but beef cattle, wheat, cotton, corn, grain sorghum, alfalfa, potatoes, and apples were its major agricultural products. The county of Parmer is also home to the Parmer County Pioneer Heritage Museum, where you can explore and see interesting memorabilia like the hand-pump vacuum cleaner from the 1920s. The Quanah Parker Arrow Trail can also be found outside the building. Moreover, barbecues, Thai food, Chinese food, seafood, fried chicken, pizzas, and other Tex-Mex foods are all being served in this county.
