The Canyon Farmers’ Market is a seasonal Saturday market located at the historic Courthouse Square in Canyon, Texas. Held between June and late September or early October (or until the first freeze), it aims to support local growers, artisans, and bakers by giving them access to the community in a fun and vibrant environment. It also hopes to increase commerce and to educate the community on healthy eating. Market hours are between 8:00am to 12:00pm. They also have a special holiday market in November. The season highlight is their annual Farm-To-Table Dinner held late September, which gathers visitors for a unique “locavore’s delight”. Local chefs prepare the dinner using ingredients coming directly from participating producers.

Carrollton Square Community Farmers Market was started in 2012 by Monika Potts, owner of Sweetly Recycled and Susan Myers, the owner of Carrolton’s Silver Star Mercantile. Vendors offer a variety of local foods and crafts and include the Rosemeade Market which sells produce and plants and Hollanen Farms, a family run farm from Allen that raises and sells beef, chicken, pork and egg. Other vendors include Lucido’s Pasta, Honeypot Honey, Up in Smoke (beef jerky) and several others. Non food vendors include a variety of soaps, handbags and jewelry. Markets are held on the second Saturdays of May, June, July and September.

The Copperas Cove Farmers Market is one of the projects of the Copperas Cove Parks & Recreation and the city’s Tourism Department. This open-air seasonal market runs every Thursday from 4-7pm between May and October. Located within the City Park Complex, it found a new permanent home at the City Park Parking Lot area. Like several other farmers’ markets in the area, many of the vendors come from some sort of military background. Categories of vendors include produce, artisanal and craft vendors, prepared food vendors, and specialty vendors. Its mission is to provide healthy options for the community and nearby areas. The market coordinator ensures there are no more than two specialty vendors or more than three crafts and artisans per market day. The market is ideal for a family visit with a playground, a pound, and a duck pond nearby.

The group responsible for the Corpus Christi Downtown Farmer's Market literally threw a party that eventually transformed into a weekly farmer’s market. Many years later, it’s still going strong with lots of bonuses for visitors who stop by to support local producers, makers, and artisans. Open every Wednesday evening from 5:00-8:00pm except during extreme weather and pre-announced closures, this market is a Bayfront institution. The idea to open mid-week is intentional. It allows the local community a chance to restock their kitchens with locally grown produce. Everything sold here is grown, raised, prepared, or made within a 200-mile radius of Corpus Christi, TX. There are other pluses, too. It’s family friendly and leashed dogs are welcome. Additionally, they release an email newsletter by Wednesday 9am and ahead of the market’s opening so potential visitors know what to expect. The courtyard provides some shelter and the Art Center nearby is also an added attraction.
