The once called Floyd City had changed its name to Floydada. It was established in 1890. Located in Floyd County, it was elected as the county seat in May 1890. Held in Floydada, the Old Settlers Parade was one of the festivals that were popular then. Floydada had a steady prosperity growth compared to towns in West Texas after the flu epidemic in 1918. Much of Floydada's commerce derives from cotton, wheat, vegetables, soybeans, corn, and sunflowers, as well as livestock. Industries include the manufacture of race-cars, sheet metal goods, and oilfield equipment. Today, there is no more railway in that area.
