Anton, is a town in Texas that was named after a railroad executive, J.F. Anton. It was founded in the year 1924 and is situated towards the center of the level high plains of the great Llano Estacado. The town is characterised by a flat terrain although towards its westside, there is a dry watercourse known as Yellow House Draw. Paul Grover Whitfield was the town’s first mayor. He became the mayor at the age of 16 or 17. This made him the youngest ever mayor in the entire Texas. The town dwellers enjoy a well situated transport system with a railway to its western edge and other great farm to market roads.
