The US city of Asherton is found in Dimmit County, Texas, with an estimated population of 1,064. The town was built by Asher Richardson, whose land and irrigation company bought and developed 48,000 acres in the area. Telephone services became operational starting in 1905, while the first post office was set up in 1909. Asherton, to this date, still uses the city commission government as its central administrative arm. Intriguingly, the town was named one of the largest producers of Bermuda onions in the US in 1927. The Carrizo Springs Consolidated Independent School District caters to the town's educational needs.
