Austin is Texas’ capital and the largest city in Travis County. According to the 2010 census, it is 4th most densely populated in Texas and the 11th most populous city in the US. The 2018 U.S. Bureau of Statistics found that Austin had an estimated population of 964,254 representing an upward surge from the 2020 census number of 790,491. The city is home to McKinney Falls, Lady Bird Lake, Walter E. Long and the Colorado River. The 2016 Forbes city report ranked Austin the number one city of the future while the 2017 World Report named Austin the number one place to live.
