Blackwell is a city in the United States located two counties — Nolan and Coke — in Texas State. Blackwell had a different name as it was initially known as Jamestown or James. However, in 1906, this city changed its name to Blackwell to gain favor with the railroad, which had great influence then. This city then grew from a stock holding point into a supply center and shipping point for three counties. Shipments became possible after this city received a post office allocation a year after changing its name to Blackwell. The place developed as a stable trading point along a railroad.
