The unincorporated Community on Bon Wier is to the East of Newton County in Texas, United States. The town started in 1905 as a stop on a railway line. Jasper and Eastern Railway focused on servicing the timber industry. The name of this place was derived from key players in the timber industry during this time. The first was the manager of the area’s sawmill, B. F. Bonner. The other was a surgeon, Robert Withrow Wier. While John Henry Kirby owned Kirby Lumber Company expanded, Bon Weir aimed at the utilization of lumber in this place. Also, a post office opened in 1906. Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe railway acquired this railway in 1948.
