The US town of Booker is situated in the counties of Ochiltree and Lipscomb in the state of Texas. The name Booker comes after B. F, Booker, a Panhandle and Santa Fe Railway engineer at the time. In 1919, this town, including the post office, shifted from Oklahoma to Texas as the rail extended from Shattuck to Spearhead. By 1920, this town had churches, a bank, cattle-shipping pens, a school, and grain elevators. Booker majorly benefited from oil and gas produced locally after 1956. In 1966, a new sewage plant came into operation. Later on, in 1973, a new hospital and clinic were built in this incorporated town.
