The US city of Brackettville is located in Kinney County in the state of Texas. Originally, Brackettville went by the name “Las Moras,” which was the name of a nearby stream and the creek that if fed. When this city started, it was a supply stopover point along the San Antonio-El Paso road. This place was named Brackettville after Oscar B. Bracket, who owned the first dry goods store in that location. In 1873, this city received a post office with the suffix “Ville” to differentiate it from others. The town developed rapidly due to the expansion of a garrison for Indian wars.
