The Briscoe unincorporated community is located in Wheeler County in Texas. It was founded in 1929 and named after J. B. Briscoe, and platted by the Lonestar Townsite Company. Briscoe served as an official of Santa Fe and Panhandle Railway. The same year a court granted A. V. Airington a 50-year telephone franchise for both Allison and Briscoe. The town was supplied with electricity by Panhandle Power and Light while Wiley Gas Company supplied it with fuel. A post office was opened in the town in 1930. In the same year, school enrolment in Briscoe was increased after it absorbed Gageby schools.
