Hemisphere Brewing Co.

Craft Brewery in Rockwall - 11.51 mi

Hemisphere Brewing Company opened in 2017 and creates “handcrafted, traditional and not-so-traditional beers” at their brewery in Rockwall. Its owners are Brandon Mullins and Ruben Garcia and both trace their friendship back to 1998, when both were playing together for a band. Both have a passion for good quality beers, and the first-time business owners eventually established the company in 2012. The road to opening the taproom was long and bumpy, but they finally opened on St. Patrick’s Day 2017. They currently have a lineup of 13 beers including the well-received Black Sacrament (an American Imperial Stout). With more beers planned for launch, the duo invites fans to join The Breakfast Club. It’s a members-only club that, among others, gets you access to private beer tastings and brewery merchandise.

Woodcreek Brewing Company

Craft Brewery in Rockwall - 11.55 mi

Woodcreek Brewing Company is Rockwall’s first brewery – and also its oldest brewery to date. Established in 2014 and operated starting May 2015, owners Noah Cutshall and Brad Bramblett were active members of a local homebrewing group. Like most homebrewers, they started in their own garage. They eventually named their brewery in honor of their Woodcreek neighborhood in Fate, Texas. "These folks are awesome! Lots of great beers, and plenty to choose from". Also, "would also highly recommend their IPA, Bock, Vanilla Porter, and Strawberry Rhubarb beer". Finally, Noah and Brad initially applied their licenses for Longhorn Brewing Company. They decided to change the name in remembrance of where they started.

Bankhead Brewing Company

Craft Brewery in Rowlett - 11.98 mi

Bankhead Brewing Company is the brainchild of chef Kevin Lefere and brewmaster Ryan Pyle. They were both eager to open their own brewpubs, but didn't feel equipped to operate and manage a successful brewpub on their own. A chance introduction by mutual friends in 2014 eventually blossomed into a partnership. By Spring 2016, they opened Bankhead Brewing Company. The brewery’s namesake is the old Bankhead highway. Built in 1916, the highway ran from Washington, D.C. to San Diego and spanned downtown Rowlett. The pioneering spirit that built the highway reflects the same spirit that inspired its founders to build their own brewery and restaurant. One hundred years later, the pair are serving their award-winning craft beers and delicious, fresh-from-the-wood-burning-oven food in downtown Rowlett.

They aim “to serve our community by delivering products of quality, creativity, flavor, and intrinsic value.” Located in a beautifully renovated building, the brewery serves up about 30 different beers, including its own creations. Some beers are from local breweries while others are products of collaborations with other breweries. Their carefully selected menu of briskets and barbecues, of course, pair well with the brews. Check out their daily specials that include Hoppy Hour every Tuesday to Friday from 3pm to 6pm. Wednesday night, meanwhile, is Pint Nights with $3 house beers.

White Rock Alehouse & Brewery

Craft Brewery in Dallas - 15.68 mi

White Rock Alehouse & Brewery founders Dave Kirk and Greg Nixon are confident they have found the perfect location for their brewpub. The duo initially identified “a need for a destination that focused on craft beer, craft cocktails, and a smart menu”. Their brewpub happens to afford access to White Rock Creek Trail. This means one can have a beer or two after a walk, run, or bike around the White Rock Lake. It’s perfect for those seeking a place to rest and relax. The brewpub also offers up 36 beers on tap. Some beers also come from the brewery’s own lineup of craft beers. This lineup also includes their 2019 US Open Beer Championships silver medal winner IPO IPA. Community Beer Co.

Craft Brewery in Dallas - 20.24 mi

Kevin Carr is the founder of Community Beer Company. Opened to the public in January 2013, the brewery’s motto is “Beer for the Greater Good,” and the events at the brewery’s huge 21,000 square feet of space reflect this motto. Their four-point manifesto also reinforces the motto. In summary, it states that “beer is communal” and that the brewery is “passionate about providing quality beer” to the community. As stewards of the community, they “adhere to environmentally sustainable practices” and promise to give back by supporting charitable activities and local artists. Their events lineup always aims to bring people together. The team always tries to make it a hub for the North Texas community. Last August 2019, for example, the brewery held a recruitment drive for bone marrow donors. One reviewer says “Dallas is lucky to have such a fantastic brewery to call its own!”

Texas Ale Project

Craft Brewery in Dallas - 20.29 mi

Texas Ale Project has been brewing beers in Dallas since 2014, but there are some unique twists to their story. For one, they recently launched their first hard seltzer beverage, TAP WTR hard seltzers. This line is an “alternative offering for those who are gluten-intolerant” and want a “lower calorie alcoholic beverage”. They’re also the first brewery and taproom “built from the ground up” since the 1800s. The brewery is a veteran-owned family affair. Navy veteran Brent Thompson is Head Brewer, and wife Kat is CEO. Kat’s father, David Stevens, an entrepreneur and also a veteran, heads sales and business development. Kat’s mom Shelley, an interior designer, led the design team for the brewery’s construction. The company’s facilities at the Design District are family and dog friendly. They have free brewery tours every first Saturday of the month at 2pm.

Four Bullets Brewery

Craft Brewery in Richardson - 20.74 mi

Four Bullets Brewery opened in May 2014 and takes its name from a Texas Hold ‘Em poker term meaning four aces. Owners and friends Andrew Smeeton and Jeff Douglas are both poker fans and former homebrewers. Drew, a native Englishman, and Jeff prefer to create handcrafted “English Ales with a Texas twist”. The brewery is Richardson’s first and fondly called “the smallest brewery in Dallas”. The brewery started with just four craft beer varieties when they opened, and now has over a dozen varieties. The owners like to say they are not in competition with big, large breweries. Instead, they wish to be known as “a neighborhood brewery catering to the Richardson area”.  With tasty offerings like their popular Royal Flush Red Irish-style pale ale, all Four Bullets beers have casino or poker-themed names.

The Manhattan Project Beer Company

Craft Brewery in Dallas - 20.78 mi

The Manhattan Project Beer Company’s name is a nod to the scientific way the brewery’s founders create their beers. Of course, the brewery’s name also makes for cool beer names. Consider Particles Collide (a Hazy IPA), Atomic Alliance (a piña colada IPA), and their infamous Bikini Atoll (a Gose). The most fascinating thing about The Manhattan Project Beer Company besides their delicious beers, however, is how the founders upended everyone’s business plan. The founders essentially proved that one didn’t need a taproom or own a brewery to succeed in the brewery business. Their story started with a brew created for a wedding, which led to a win at a homebrewing competition, and finally culminated in their “renting brewing space like a room on Airbnb”. Since those early days in 2016, founders Misty Sanford, Karl Sanford, and Jeremy Brodt have enjoyed a cult-like following. They’re expecting to open their taproom in late 2019.

Steam Theory Brewing Co

They have an immersive environment where people can enjoy food and beer that are not only intertwined in themselves, but also with a goal of educating folks on where they came from as an industry as well as where it will take them in the future. They are using their space in one of downtown Dallas’ oldest buildings to brew limited-production offerings and test out new recipes alongside a bar area that will stay true to the building’s history. Will Cotten is the Brewmaster, and one of the co-founders at Pegasus City Brewery. He began home brewing in 2011, and his passion for making “great-tasting beer for family and friends” led him to pursue a commercial brewery of his very own. Pegasus City’s ambition is to change the drinking scene downtown without changing much about itself. Small but mighty, their taproom is a place to relax, enjoy a cold brew, and be among friends.

Oak Cliff Brewing Co

Craft Brewery in Dallas - 21.35 mi

Located in the heart of Oak Cliff in historical Tyler Station, Oak Cliff Brewing Company is a production brewery and taproom that offers “fresh and high quality craft beers.” The brewery sits in a 110, 000 square-foot industrial space that has been re-purposed into a co-working haven for creatives, artists and, of course, craft brewers. They have an interesting lineup of craft beers including their core beers - “two lagers, a saison and an IPA” which are truly promising! More seasonal offerings are yet to come such as “desserty imperial stout that is brewed with homemade caramel.” Come taste their awesome selection of craft beers and spend time in the biergarten styled taproom with original murals from Jeff Rogers!

Celestial Beerworks

Craft Brewery in Dallas - 21.56 mi

Husband and wife Matt and Molly Reynolds own Celestial Beerworks in DFW. Matt’s work with a restaurant to help them grow their brewing system in 2015 had been gaining a following, and he and his wife thought it was a good time to open their own business. Located at the Medical District, the brewery and taproom combines the things the couple are most passionate about – science, art, space, and beer – especially “hoppy and hazy” beers. A former art teacher, Molly managed the design of their beers’ labels and created most of the murals at the taproom. The road towards opening in late October 2018 was tough. During the process, they also had two children within a span of 15 months and kept their full-time jobs until just months before the opening. The rewards, however, came when four of their beers “trended” in a popular beer app soon after they opened.
