In 1881, a railroad bypassed a community called Cross Roads which was located two miles south of the present town Frost. Six years later, Frost, Texas was born and businesses at Cross Roads were moved to the Frost Station. The name was given based on Sam R. Frost who owned the land that the city of Frost was on. He was an attorney who fought many legal battles for the town. In Frost, the Silver Lake provided ample water supply for the town. In 1929 a tornado occurred in the area and after that the Great Depression together with World War II had prevented Frost from thriving. Today the population is 643 according to 2010 census.
