Gainesville is a city situated in Cooke County in Texas. The city is also the county seat of Cooke County. The city’s population was 16,002 as of the 2010 census. The city is a part of the Texoma region. The town of Gainesville was founded in 1850 on a land that was donated by Mary E. Clark. The town was first called Liberty but that name didn’t last very long as there was already another Liberty in Texas. The city’s incorporation was held on February the seventeenth, 1873. The city of Gainesville is being provided by the Gainesville Independent School District.
