Highlands is a designated place located in the area of unincorporated Harris County, Texas. This town was founded in 1930. And the town’s population in 2010 was 7,522. The coterie was named Highlands because of the east side of the San Jacinto River, where the Highlands is, has a higher altitude than the west side of the river. The Highlands incorporated in 1930. But its authority was nullified. In 1956. The Highlands tried to incorporate again but it was meaningless, leaving them still unincorporated. The total area of the town is 6.5 square miles, of which 1.7 square miles is water.
