Industry is a town located in Austin County, Texas. The population of this small town was 304 as of the 2010 census. Industry was the first perpetual German community in Texas. A German immigrant named Friedrich Ernst immigrated to America in 1829. In 1831, the founder of Industry, the German settled here. The town was originally founded in 1838. This gained the town the title “Cradle of German Settlement in Texas”. The town is located at the intersection of Farm to Market Road 109 and State Highway 159. The town’s total area by the U.S Bureau is just 1.1 square miles.
