The city of Iredell is situated in Bosque County in Texas. The population reached 339 at the 2010 census. The city is small, only having 0.5 square miles according to the U.S Bureau. In the late 1850s, two colonists occupied the land, Ranse Walker and Ward Keeler. The coterie was increasing around Walker’s house. The town gained its name from Ward Keeler’s son named Ire. Dell was attached to make the name more appealing. The first post office opened in 1870. The town reached its peak population of 600 by 1892. But began to decrease slowly, and by the 1960s the population was 366.
