Jermyn is a community that is unincorporated and is located in Jack County in Texas. The town’s population was just 75 as of the 2000 census. The town was founded at the beginning of the 20th century in 1902. Jermyn gained its name from George W. Scranton’s son, Jermyn. The coterie was founded for local mining. The use of mining coal was fading because of oil. The population’s maximum reached 1,066 when the town was thriving after being turned into an agricultural center in the 1960s. 10 Years later, the community’s population began to decline and so it reached a population of 75.
