Kamay is an unincorporated coterie located in Wichita County in Texas. The coterie had an approximate population of 600 in the year 2000. Kamay is placed on State Highway 258, just twelve miles southwest of Wichita Falls. The coterie of Kamay is distributed by Iowa Park Independent School District. Progression of the area began in 1912. When three investors established a company for land that purchased 1,000 acres of Wichita River land to resell. By 1920s they turned their awareness to the oil industry and formed the K-M-A Oil Company. KMA Name came from 3 of the investors’ last names. The coterie that progressed around these oil fields was known as Kemp City in 1928. Despite the name change to Kamay in later years, Kemp City is still used.
