Knox City is a town located in Knox County in Texas. At the 2010 census, the town’s population was 1,130. The town’s original name used to be Orient, because of the Kansas City, Mexico, and Orient railway which was passing through Knox Prairie. The town was established before the arrival of the railway in 1906. Two fires, in 1911. And in 1919. Caused significant damage to the town. After that, it was pretty uneventful all until 1953. When a tornado attacked the town. Four people have died from the tornado and a lot of the buildings were damaged. The peak of the population was 1,805 in the 1960s but has never exceeded two thousand.
