The Burton Farmers and Artisans Market is a small seasonal market located right along 307 Main St in Burton. It features various homegrown and homemade products. The Burton Chamber of Commerce officially sponsors the market every first Saturday of each month from April through November.The venue is the grounds of the Texas Cotton Gin Museum. The museum holds the distinction of being the “official cotton gin museum of Texas” and the oldest operating cotton gin in the U.S. There are tours that explain the importance of the cotton industry for Texas. Time your visit in April for their annual Cotton Gin Festival, and see the cotton gin in action.
The La Grange Farmers Market is every Saturday year-round from 8:00am to 2:00pm at their new location at the Jersey Barnyard at 3117 TX-159, La Grange, TX. The organizers take pride in its being “a true representation of Central Texas’ artisan and food community”.The market features farm and garden products, baked goods, prepared foods, homemade preserves, homegrown plants, and more. (They don’t allow the sale of meat products, though.) For homemade and handcrafted items, they impose an additional restriction that only local residents are allowed to sell these types of products.The market is very attractive to potential vendors. There is no weekly or monthly fee to participate, but space is on a "first come, first-served" basis.
