Lingleville is an unincorporated coterie located in Erath County in Texas. The community is located at the junction of Farm Road 8 and Farm Road 219. R.P. Campbell opened a grocery store in his house where the preset townsite is. The community went by the name of Needmore before the town’s post office was founded and it was changed to honor John Lingle, who settled the area in 1874. In 1940. The town has had a population of 200, it has since then diminished and is reported to be around one hundred in the present. The area is distributed by its own Independent School District.
