Linn is a CDP and an unincorporated community located in Hidalgo County in Texas. The community’s population was 801 as of the 2010 census. The community used to be called San Manuel-Linn. The town was founded in 1927. It was on a station of Texas and New Orleans Railroad. A post office opened one year later, and in 1930. The town also had two stores and a population of twenty residents. Linn is distributed by the Edinburgh Consolidated Independent School District. The town was named after Linn A. Dougherty who was a son of the land developer William M. Dougherty.
