The U.S. town of Marietta is located in Cass County in the state of Texas. The town lies at the junction of Farm roads 1399 and 250. The town was initially referred to as Oak Ridge. In 1880, a post office was founded in this town. Consequently, the town's name changed to honor Newt Wommack's wife. Newt Wommack was an early settler of this town. By 1884, the town had established churches, gins, sawmills, and gristmills. The Jefferson and Northwestern Railroad was completed in 1917, passing through this town but was abandoned in 1933. The town was incorporated in 1980.
