Midway is a city situated in Madison County in Texas. This wan an early land grant by the Republic of Texas. The town was acquired by J. Branton Johnson in March 1838. The properties were up for sale for German Immigrants that arrived after the Civil War. Franck Clecka was the man that built the general store in the town. Cotton was the main source of income for the first half of the 20th century, it peaked in 1906. The town’s reported population was around fifty at the 1950 census, it was the latest recorded number of population in the town.
