Mullin is located in west central Mills County. It became a townsite when the Santa Fe track was constructed through the area in late 1880s. Dr. W. D. Kirkpatrick had donated the townsite in return for the construction of the railroad through the area. A gristmill and a cotton gin were the earliest businesses. The Town of Mullin is served by the Mullin Independent School District and home to the Mullin High School Bulldogs. Belve Bean, a professional baseball player was born here. Males had a median income of $23,333 while females had $19,375. According to 2000 census, the total population came up to 175. This equals to 376.5 people per square miles.
