O'Brien is a city in Haskell County, Texas and is situated at the junction of Texas State Highway 6 and Farm Road 2229, on the Santa Fe Railroad in northwest Haskell County. It is near the city of Abilene, 70 miles to the south. Its population is 106 as of 2010. It has a total land area of 0.5 square miles. The city has a diverse racial distribution of 61.36% White, 0.76% Native American, and 37.88% from other races including Hispanics or Latinos which is 55.30% of the population of any race. Also, this city is served by the Knox City-O'Brien Consolidated Independent School District. A notable accomplishment of the city was when it won its first six-man football state championship in Texas in a 1972 game.
