Poth, Texas is located seven miles southeast of Floresville in southeastern Wilson County. It was first established as a switch on the San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway in 1886. The area was first named Marcelina but was renamed to Poth in 1901 when A. H. Poth established the first gin there. In 1906, a depot was built at Poth and by 1904 the town had a lumberyard and a cotton gin. In April 2020, Poth hosted the 11th Annual ‘Ride To Remember’ Bicycle Ride and 5K Run/Walk in cooperation with the Alzheimer’s Association and the Poth Economic Development Corp.
