Redwater is a United States city in Bowie County, Texas. The city was established in the 1870s, and its growth revolved around a sawmill operated by Spence and Daniel. The two named this area Ingersoil after Robert Ingersoll. In 1881, a post office was established in this place. The name of this city was changed after 1886. The city was then named Redwater after a recently drilled well that produced red water. In 1894, the post office in this area was named officially. The first set of quadruplets in the United States were born in this city. Redwater was also the birthplace of the Rock n roll musician Kenny Wayne.
