Conveniently located near the intersection of US Highway 377 and State Highway 114, Roanoke is the Unique Dining Capital of Texas. Roanoke’s history began when Brothers Charles and Louis Medlin and 20 other families left Missouri in 1847 and settled along Denton Creek. However, heavy flooding forced them to move south, closer to where downtown is located today. In 1881 the Texas and Pacific Railroad finished laying their track through Roanoke, which turned the town into a hub for the cattle ranches in southern Denton County to ship out their livestock. Today, the history found along Oak Street is kept alive through the local museum and the visitors who feel the distinctive and special appeal the area creates.

Roanoke offers small town charm, fascinating history, and unique dining opportunities. Visit the museum and visitors center to learn more about Roanoke’s history, then enjoy dining at one of Roanoke’s many local eateries. Visit Roanoke throughout the year for one of their 22 City hosted events, which include the award-winning Celebrate Roanoke event, Roanoke’s Hometown Holiday, For the Love of BBQ Cook-Off, Roanoke Round Up, All American Fireworks Festival, and many more family friendly events.
