Thirsty Planet Brewing Co

Craft Brewery in Austin - 22.30 mi

There’s nothing random about Thirsty Planet Brewing Company’s methods when it comes to brewing great craft beers. Everything has a purpose. For example, they started back in 2010 with just ales, which take less time than lagers. They donate tips gathered at their tasting room to charities, and sponsor several local charities whenever possible, including the Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund. Local artists get traction and support through their Brite Tank and Event Brite initiatives. They donate spent grains to local farmers, and recycle paper, cardboard, and glass products, too. Business decisions are purposeful, too. They celebrated their seventh year with the launch of Buckethead IPA sold in a special 7-pack beer. Of course, these came in a bucket shaped container. Watch out for the brewery’s taproom reopening. They closed the old one to concentrate on production and distribution, boosting their capacity and making them available on store shelves.

5 Stones Artisan Brewery

Craft Brewery in New Braunfels - 22.61 mi

Starting out as a hobby homebrewer until the company’s founding, Seth now works with Garrett Crowell, a former head brewer at another company. Seth also moved the brewery to its present-day 19-acre location from its previous 1200 square feet space in a Cibolo industrial park. With his first brew, the award-winning Aloha Piña, and dozens of other handcrafted recipes, the company continues to brew seasonal artisan beers at the new location. The place is “a little hidden… with abundant outdoor seating and space for dogs to play and kids to run”. Complementing the indoor setup is an outdoor seating area. It's a “beautiful and relaxing atmosphere” with fire pits, food trucks on occasion, and live music. In case you’re wondering, “5 Stones” refers to the little-known bible trivia that David carefully chose 5 stones to beat Goliath.

Acopon Brewing Co

Craft Brewery in Dripping Springs - 23.12 mi

The Acopon Brewing Company was established by the same group who gave Dripping Springs The Barber Shop. Established to provide a focus on English-style ales, the team opened another taproom just a stone’s throw away from the Barber Shop's location. The name is taken from a “restorative or cordial medicine or application”. The taproom opened in September 2017. It provides a selection of craft beers – not just English ales. It even has wine, cider, and sodas for non-fans of craft beers. The brewery follows an “old world model where each town in Germany or England would have their own favorite local brewery”, and the beer could only be found and enjoyed there. They have board games for use by guests, and welcome dogs into the taproom. They don’t serve food, so guests are also welcome to bring food in.

Hitmaker Brewing Company

Craft Brewery in Austin - 23.61 mi

Meanwhile, the other founders own or co-own several bars and restaurants around Austin. The list includes MugShots, Pour House Pints & Pies, The Hideout Pub, Pour House Pub, Bender Bar & Grill, and Violet Crown Social Club.
