Seadrift is a city in Calhoun County, Texas, United States. It has a population of 1.364. It was established in 1891. It was probably named after the debris that was found in the city after the hurricane that hit Indianola in that time. The median income of the city is $26.000 The city was first heard of nationally in 1979 and unfortunately, it was because of the incident that took place in it. Seadrift has a Vietnamese minority and after Sau Van Nguyen killed Billy Joe Aplin, both of whom were local fishermen, the Vietnamese community came under attack. Several Vietnamese fishing boats were burned and the incident was the basis for the 1985 film Alamo Bay.
