Stamford is a city located on the border of Jones and Haskell Counties in west-central Texas. It has a population of a bit over 3.000. The townsite was donated by the family of Swante Magnus Swenson. He was the first Swedish immigrant to Texas that had a great influence on the local community. There are about 1200 households in the city and a family makes about $40.000. The economy of Stamford is based largely on education, healthcare, and agriculture. The city also features a museum dedicated to Cowboy Country.
