Westbrook is a city in Mitchell County, in the U.S. state of Texas. It is located on US 20/80, FM 670, and the MP Railroad, in the west-central part of the county. The townsite was founded and laid out in 1906, and it was named after John Westbrook, a pioneer settler in the area. Westbrook quickly grew from then; just three years after its founding, the town already had 600 residents, along with a post office, a bank, a threshing plant, a school, and several gins. The town is also home to Ralph Ramsey, a Border Patrol inspector who was killed on duty in 1942 in New Mexico. The number of residents dropped to 400 after the WWII and it gradually declined from then. As of 2000, it has a population of 203.
