Winona is a city situated in Smith County in Texas. The town’s roots go back to the 1870s when Winona was founded on the old Shreveport-Dallas Road, that same year a little bit later the town became a station stop on the railroad. The city’s first post office was in operation for just one year from 1878 to 1879 but it started operating again one year later. The town had a population of 576 citizens as of the 2010 census and has a total area of 1,6 square miles according to the U.S Bureau, all of it is land. Winona’s public education system is being distributed by the Winona Independent School District.
