Zephyr is an unincorporated coterie situated in Brown County in Texas. The community originally started in the 1850s when it was set on the banks of Blanket Creek. The name of Zephyr means soft and gentle wind, the name was used by first settlers who were in the area when the blue norther was occurring. The town’s first general store was established in 1878 and a post office opened just one year after. Zephyr Independent School District provides the public’s education system. The community has an estimated population of 198 in the year 2000. The town is situated beside U.S Highway 84.
