The McKinney Farmers Market is back at its original location for the 2019 season and onwards. For about 20 months, it relocated to the Adriatica area but it is back at Chestnut Square where it originally started. Surrounded by shady trees and historic old houses, visitors can also participate in one of the tours the city conducts – including a Ghost Walk where visitors might get a chance to meet some of the the old houses’ resident ghosts.
Held every Saturday (8:00am to 12:00pm) from April to November, the market consistently ranks as one of the top farmers market in Texas and nationwide. With its relocation to Chestnut Square, the market’s organizers have also implemented stricter rules for vendors so visitors can “shop the old-fashioned way”. These rules give emphasis and priority to locally grown produce. They’ve also improved the area by making it more accessible for wheelchair-bound visitors, among other improvements.
