Montgomery is a city located in Montgomery County. As of the 2010 census, the town’s population was 621. The town itself was founded exactly in the middle of the Lake Creek Settlement. The town was established by W.W. Shepherd in July 1837. Montgomery was the first county seat of Montgomery County which was established on December 14, 1837. The city of Montgomery was originally incorporated in 1848 when Judge Nathaniel Hart Davis was appointed as mayor. The city’s public education system is being distributed by the Montgomery Independent School District. Montgomery has a total area of 4.6 square miles and 4.5 square miles of it is land.
