Blue Owl Brewing specializes in sour beers. That means this is the place to go to in East Austin if you like sour beers. The beers range from “mildly sour to puckering after every sip” sour. Owner Suzy Shaffer says she has had taproom customers “who don’t like beer (and) we’ve been able to convert people (to drinking their beers)”. Co-owner Jeff Young says their “refreshing, light beers” are perfect for Austin’s warm weather. Their taproom opened in 2015. The pastel furniture and décor is a perfect backdrop to the sour beers they serve. They have three year-round products – Little Boss, Spirit Animal, and Professor Black – plus a selection of seasonal offerings. Their canned releases  are found “in select cities throughout Texas and California”, with some limited seasonal bottles released from time to time.
