Located in south-central Tyler County, Warren was named after Alexander Young who came from Warren, Pennsylvania. He arrived in 1882 and established a sawmill in the area. a year after, the railroad was built. Five years later, Brough and Krueger of Machigan built a second mill next to the original mill. In 1889, both mills were united as the Warren Lumber Company and managed by Alexander, with William Brough, Jr. as his superintendent. Warren’s first post office, manned by John C. Terrell as postmaster, was housed with a telegraph office and the railroad depot. Although Warren’s population declined in the 60s, it has increased since then.
