Initiated by city officials, the market solidified its operations with established by-laws in 2010, along with comprehensive rules and regulations for vendors. To extend its season beyond April to October, an online store was introduced, serving as an accessible option for shoppers to connect with local farmers, makers, and bakers. These collective efforts not only bring together discerning shoppers but also bolster the local economy and nurture community bonds. These endeavors have garnered recognition, with the market earning the 2018 Best Produce category in County Line’s Best of the Upper East Side contest, along with previous accolades such as the 2011 American Farmland Trust organization’s 2nd Favorite Farmer’s Market in Texas award.
